Stu Davies
Ocean caring digital strategist
Surfer, sailor & ocean activist
I’m Stu Davies - an ocean-caring digital strategist, surfer, sailor and ocean activist.
I bring together three pillars in my work: strategy and planning, digital marketing expertise, and a deep personal connection to the ocean. I’ve worked globally for many years and now lead Creative Bloom, the digital agency I founded in 2014.
I’ve been actively involved in ocean activism since the early 2000s, working closely with organisations like Surfers against Sewage and more recently The Wave Project. I’m a passionate surfer, sailor and sea swimmer.
The sea is in my DNA - and most of the time, in my beard.
My ocean story
I first became ocean aware surfing in chilly Saltburn near to where I grew up. Moving to the UK south coast in the early 2000s, I was often a surf visitor to the mecca of Devon and Cornwall. It was during this period, through my own experiences and others around me, that I became acutely aware of water quality issues in our seas and oceans.
Driven by what I learned, I decided to devote my life to help protect these precious natural spaces. The sea is our lifeblood, and I intend to use my strategy and marketing skills to support ocean caring brands and organisations who care for and help protect it, amplify their impact to the fullest.
My experience

10 years in strategy & planning
I spent over 10 years working in commercial finance and strategy planning for large blue-chip organisations across the UK and APAC. That’s where I developed strong commercial and strategic grounding - even if that world ultimately wasn’t for me.
As digital became more central to how organisations operate and grow, I naturally gravitated towards it.
15 years in digital marketing
After stepping away from the corporate ladder, I came up with the idea for a digital marketing agency while travelling in landlocked Laos… with a surfboard. The idea was simple: help the good guys get found.
Creative Bloom continues to support purposeful brands and organisations through search marketing and digital marketing training. I’m also a co-founder of the digital sustainability movement GreenSEO.

Speaking & media
I’ve spoken at digital conferences including brightonSEO and Grow Digital, and I’ve provided expert commentary on water quality issues for BBC, Sky, ITV, Channel 4 and Reuters.
I’m available for press calls, TV interviews, podcasts and public speaking on water quality, sustainability, AI and digital marketing strategy.
My approach
I keep strategy simple, practical and human.
My job is to help you cut through the noise, understand what really matters, and create a plan your team can actually deliver. I don’t believe in fluff, buzzwords or over-engineered frameworks - just clarity, focus and honest guidance rooted in experience.
We start by getting under the skin of your world: your audiences, your challenges, your capacity and your mission. From there, we shape a strategy that feels doable, builds momentum and gives you confidence as things evolve.
It’s a collaborative process:
